Blogging from my phone today.. For some bizarre reason my laptop crashed on Saturday and doesn't want to switch on!! Seriously starting to bug me- I've got flat searching to do!!
So they'll be no video posts for the time being.. But I hope you all are still listening to some sort of music! If any of you read The Rolling Stone magazine or get their emails, then you will be aware of the Amnesty International 50 year celebration! Bob Dylan has launched an album (he also started his own career 50 years ago..!) with many others artists to celebrate this anniversary, "Chimes of Freedrom: Songs of Bob Dylan Celebrating 50 Years of Amnesty International"- doesn't that sound good or what..?! You can read the artical yourself online on The Rolling Stone website, but a little snipet of a review by The New York Times "It's genre-busting!"
Oh, also another little bit of news- I decided to dye my hair again the other day, with my two soon-to-be flat mates.. Finally sorted my roots out and then went blue. Now don't worry, it's not permanent, and is just 5 centiments at the tips but I kinda like it!
But anyway- sleepy time now! Just went out for an Italien with some of our class, very tasty and soooo cheap- perfect. So night night, don't let the bed bugs bite x

Had a few crazy days. Here's a few little snaps from last night- we decided to go out straight after work, as a goodbye party thing for a friend who's moving to the USA for a year..

It was a short but funny night- this last shot we had.. Called a Schuetteln (I think..)- you get two shots and then you have to drink one then the other, without swallowing the first one, and then shake (schuetteln) them together in your mouth.. Sounds confusing doesn't it? But its fun!
Spent the day at my Oma's today- it was my little cousins birthday, so we all got well-fed and looked after. T'was much needed after last night..
So off to bed now, but not before a bit of music of course-

First heard this a few years ago when my mate gave me a Dubstep/DnB version- I loved it(you can also find that verison on YouTube). Then I listened to the original, and it took me a few goes to get used to it- but it's such a good listen.. (Especially when you've been listening to the god-awful H&M playlist all day.. Seriously I almost want to Xmas tunes back!!) Natasha Khan has such an interesting voice as well- its pretty iconic, I reckon anyway.

My fluffy pink pen- with which I write all my letters and post cards! So if you are one of the lucky ones to get something small from me, written, then it was done by this beauty! I'm not normally one for pink, fluffy things- but every girl has her princess side- and mine comes out in pretty pens! (It's all glittery too..!)

I've actually got King Creosote & Jon Hopkins on right now (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgZ0cvBMFT8 - this is a good cover.. You can find them on YouTube if you want the real deal as well though..)! Good music to listen to while reading (but the album 'Diamond Mine' is far far too short.. Only 32.1 minutes!! These guys seriously need to get going on a new album- I'd like to imagine it to be incredible..)! But Moderat got me to work and back earlier. Try and see if you can get it on vinyl somewhere- its amazing to listen to on vinyl..!!

I bought a couple of new books today- John Fowles 'The French Lieutenant's Woman' today (Die Franzoesisch Leutnants Frau.. I bought it in German, 'cause I is cool like that!) I originally wanted The Collector, but they didn't have it- anywhere- in the whole of Freiburg!! I mean, come on! It's such an amazing book, you'd think somewhere would stock it, but no. Looks like I'm going to have to give in and buy it off Amazon.de- I'm a bit of an Amazon-phobe.. Ever since I realised that book and music shops won't exist any more in a few years if we just buy everything off the internet. And a world without book or music shops, my friends, will not be a good world. And I also bought Oscar Wilde's A Woman Of No Importance- I have a deep love for Wilde (I am a huge romantic at heart..) and I have had four/five months of not reading any of his works. And this is far, far too long. So I bought this as a quick, little read when I'm feeling down and need a good ol' English book to cheer me up.
So now I have- Doyle, Fallada, Fowles and Wilde, all on the go, at the same time. Maybe I'm being a little too ambitious. But they are all so good!! I also have a pile on my window sill, waiting to be read. Man- I need to stop going to school or work or something, I need to get reading these books!
And on that note- I am off to bed. To get some reading done.

Wow. Now I thought I was pretty all right at understanding the German language- turns out, I'm not. J. Edgar was such an epic film- so interesting and detailed (I think anyway..)!
I've just gotta see it in English again..

No- I mean, it wasn't that bad.. But sometimes in long scenes where they would speak about something very important (as you can see I was totally aware of what was going on..) it was like every word just went straight over my head.. I barely understood 'und'..! Elodie and I looked at each other with completely terrified expressions- it was defo level C6, and we are only C1!(Language school speak..)

But all in all, it was interesting- it's amazing the kind of things a man in politics has to go through..

GO WATCH IT!! (I advise this only on the basis of seeing it in your mother-tongue.. It's a tad complicated.)

So I bought The Cure's Wish album the other day, felt bad, for spending money, for about two seconds until I read on the back that they are anti-apartheid, and all the royalties go towards Amnesty International. Now I already knew that The Cure were cool- now they are friggin' awesome!!!

I found an old photograph at my Oma's house.. Me, as usual, being the odd-ball in the family, looking back at the Grandparents, who must have been taking the photo.
I just said goodbye to Mum at the station.. And as its ghastly weather outside, its a candle and reading day today! Those four days with my mother have gone far too quickly..

Taken on my way up to the hut, in the Black Forest (I am clearly so well dressed for the snowy mountains of the Schwarzwald..) where we celebrated New Years- so much fun! We've done it before and it just gets better and better, although the tables and benches we have to sleep on get harder and harder I swear..!
Do any of you have any New Year resolutions? I probably have the same as most other girls, including go to the gym more, eat less shit, go to bed earlier.. But I have also had a few thoughts of making a new one- I used to write a lot when I was in England, and out here I feel like I'm only either writing on here or for school. So my 'proper' resolution this year is to begin to write again. I'll let you know how it goes..
I'll post a few photos of the actual celebrations tomorrow (didn't take many tbh- too busy drinking the champers..) but off to bed now.
